Jewish Eating
Jewish Eating
The famous joke that circulates at many Passover Seders - "They tried to kill us, we won, now let's eat"- is not really that far from the truth. Food is fundamental to Jewish life, culture and ritual. All Jewish life cycle events are accompanied by celebratory meals. Some foods, such as matzoh ball soup are considered almost sacred because of their importance to these meals, holidays and rituals.
Over the centuries, Jews have adopted foods of the various lands in which they've settled, from as far apart as Syria, Sweden, Persia and El Salvador.
CTI's Challah Baking Group meets in our kitchen every Friday morning, and our Kitchen Kabinet organizes and produces delectable Shabbat Around the World Dinners.
We have collected recipes from our congregants and published them into a "personal" cookbook, Eat in Good Health. Members are encouraged to share their favorite recipes for everyone's pleasure by emailing them to office@ctionline.org.
